Dr. Francesca Tencalla

Dr. Francesca Tencalla, Director and co-owner of ToxMinds BVBA, is an (eco)toxicology and regulatory affairs consultant with over 20 years of industry and research experience in the human and environmental safety assessment of chemical substances and products. She is the technical lead for the company’s projects related to the human health and environmental evaluation of substances from a wide range of sectors, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology plants, biocides, pesticides and cosmetics.

Francesca started her professional career at UCB Pharma in Belgium and has held senior positions with Monsanto Europe SA, where she was responsible for the eco-toxicological evaluation and environmental risk assessment of the company’s chemical, pharmaceutical and plant protection products in Europe.

She obtained a M.Sc. in Ecotoxicology from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and a Ph.D. in Aquatic Toxicology from the Institute of Toxicology of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) of Zurich in 1995. Francesca is a European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) and Treasurer, since 2007, of the Belgian Society for Toxicology (BELTOX).
