Conduct of a hands-on training on the use of in silico tools in chemical hazard assessment

In collaboration with Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT), ToxMinds conducted a 2-day hands-on training on the use of in silico tools in wider context of chemical hazard assessment.

We conducted, under the umbrella of the CAAT (Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing) Academy’s programme ‘hands on training in toxicology’, a 2-day training course on the use of in silico tools in chemical hazard assessments. Prior to the actual hands-on training, constituting about 75% of the total training time, we provided an overview of the consideration of in silico tools in EU Regulation (by Dr. K. Schütte, DG Environment, EC) and the functioning of publicly available in silico tools for hazard profiling and structure activity assessments (led by Dr. M. Autiero, ToxMinds); prediction of chemical’s metabolism (led by Prof. Dr. J. Kirchmair, University of Hamburg) and analogue identification (led by Dr. M. Autiero, ToxMinds; supported by Dr. N. Jeliazkova, IdeaConsult). The majority of the training was then focused on providing the participants with hands-on training on the individual tools and how to use the tools in combination in the chemical hazard assessment process.
